Rogue Factor studio, in collaboration with publisher NACON, has just released a new 15-minute gameplay video for its upcoming action-adventure game, Hell is Us. This sequence, presented by creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, offers a unique overview of the main characteristics of the title, expected in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. On the program: dynamic combat system, immersive narration and an exploration-oriented design.
A dark tale in a country at war
Hell is Us immerses players in the mysterious world of Hadea, a fictional country ravaged by civil war. The story follows Rémi, a character who, after years spent abroad, returns to his native country in search of answers about his past. This intense narrative framework lays the foundations for an adventure where each discovery could reveal a part of the truth, while immersing players in a world rich in conflicts and secrets.
A demanding but accessible combat system
One of the great strengths of Hell is Us lies in its combat system, both demanding and accessible. Jonathan Jacques-Belletête made it clear that, although the game offers intense confrontations, it is not a souls-like punitive. Combat is based on mastering blows and adapting to enemy attacks. Players will have a variety of weapons and skills at their disposal, not to mention the support of KAPI, a versatile drone capable of distracting enemies or executing special attacks.
“Player Plattering”: an exploration without marking
Another particularity of the title lies in its innovative approach to exploration. Called “Player Plattering,” this game design technique puts aside visual aids and traditional quest logs. The player must therefore rely on his instinct and curiosity to progress, discover places steeped in history or even explore ancient dungeons. This choice encourages reflection and investigation, providing a freedom rarely seen in this genre of gaming.
