Home and work addresses are even more accessible with Maps on Android Auto

Google Maps is the map and navigation platform that we use every day to get around, whether we do it by car or by public transport. And a new update arrives from Google Maps, with which it becomes easier to manage home and work addresses on Android Auto. Android Auto is another important part of the software experience offered by Google, as it allows you to connect your Android smartphone to the device in your car. Let’s see what’s new in the new Maps update.

Improves Maps’ handling of home and work addresses on Android Auto
For some time we have been seeing a constant renewal and improvement of Android Auto by Google, and this also includes updates that play a fundamental role in the user experience with the popular infotainment system. Among these we obviously find Google Maps. Maps is certainly one of the applications most used by users who use Android Auto. And with the new Maps update, new options are available to improve the management of home addresses. By home addresses, we mean the ability to save specific addresses as default, such as our home and work addresses. In this way it will not be necessary to enter them each time when preparing a route, but simply choose the predefined options that appear on the screen.

The first new feature introduced to Maps concerns the possibility of receiving a suggestion in the Android Auto application to define the address of our home or work. As you can see in the screenshot above, the suggestion will appear at the top left of the Maps interface on Android, just below the search bar. Next comes the possibility of configuring our home or work address directly on Android Auto, typing the address as if we were doing it from a smartphone. This is new, given that until now we could only configure our home or work address from the Maps application on a smartphone. These are clearly minor changes, but nonetheless substantial based on our experience with Android Auto. It will no longer be necessary to use the smartphone to configure home or work addresses, and this will save us time, especially if we are driving. The innovations we just saw are included in the most recent versions of Google Maps on Android Auto, and are public to all users.
