It was the surprise of the end of the State of Play: Ghost of Tsushima 2, or rather “Ghost of Yōtei”, was unveiled with a very first trailer and even the beginning of a release date.
You might have thought it was a DLC for Rise of the Ronin, but no! As a “one more thing” for its State of Play – which was held on the night of September 24-25 – PlayStation has indeed announced Ghost of Tsushima 2, or rather “Ghost of Yōtei”. Yes, as confirmed by the Sucker Punch studio on the PS Blog, this new action-adventure title in Japan will not be a sequel to the story of Jin Sakai on the island of Tsushima. “The journey of Atsu (the new ghost of this episode, editor’s note) takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of the ghost of Tsushima”, we can read. The title is planned for 2025, obviously only on PS5.
Still sumptuous environments
Obviously, this announcement was accompanied by a trailer (it’s 3 minutes long and you can find it below). After a few minutes by the fire, a nature as vibrant as ever appearsincluding the imposing Mount Yatei… “A towering peak in the heart of Ezo, a region of Japan known as Hokkaido today,” Sucker Punch explains on the PS Blog. “In 1603, this area was outside of Japan’s rule (…) It’s the setting for an original story that we can’t wait to tell.”

Sucker Punch’s first game on PS5
A setting that promises to be a sight to behold, just like Ghost of Tsushima at the time… Because yes, Ghost of Yōtei will be Sucker Punch’s very first game on PS5. The team promises “massive lines of vision” to look further than before, and even “even more credible” movement in terms of the impact of wind on vegetation. “Our trailer offers a glimpse of this world, but there is so much more to show, and we will have much more to share in the coming months“. The appointment is made, we look forward to learning more in the future.
