Circle to Seek is already one of the most useful AI features in Android and it’s only going to get better.

Very practical, the function Circle to search is not compatible with messaging bubbles. Android 15 should quickly fix this anomaly.

Of all the AI features that have been integrated into Android in the past few months, Circle to search is probably one of the most practical in everyday life. It allows you to launch a search on content displayed on the screen (text, image or video) by circling the element that interests you with your finger. Previously, you had to use copy and paste, or even save an image to perform a reverse search with Google to obtain results.

Circle to search has one flaw though. While it is possible to launch a search by circling the text of an article or document, the function does not support the text of messaging bubbles in applications such as Messages or WhatsApp. The same goes for multimedia content. When a contact sends us a message and we want to search for what they sent us, we have to go back to the good old methods, which is frustrating when we have become accustomed to the convenience ofCircle to search.

Android 15: Circle to search becomes functional in messaging apps

But the situation should soon be resolved. Android Authority discovered lines of code in Android 15 Beta 4, indicating that this limitation should be lifted in an upcoming update. For now, the change is not operational, but the media outlet managed to activate it manually by dint of tinkering. It assures that the feature is now fully compatible with messaging bubbles.

So we can hope that the change will be available by default with the stable version of Android 15 QPR1. For now, it is not included in Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2. Android 15 is expected to be officially launched around October 15, 2024. If we refer to last year’s release schedule, Android QPR1 could be deployed to all users during the month of December, alongside the release of the monthly security patch.

Circle to search is currently offered on premium smartphones from Google and Samsung, but will soon arrive at Xiaomi, Vivo and other brands.
