AMD formalizes a launch slot for its new Radeon RX 9070 / 9070 XT

After two weeks of hesitation, AMD is finally communicating a slightly more precise release date for its new RDNA4 graphics cards. We now know that the Radeon RX 9070 / 9070 XT will arrive on the market in March.

We knew that they would arrive somewhere in the first quarter of 2025; that they will benefit from an event dedicated to them between now and their release; and the question of their price is clearly debated… But we still did not know when AMD would decide to market its new Radeon RX 9070 / 9070 XT.

In a post shared last night on X, David McAfee (VP & GM attached to the Ryzen and Radeon ranges) gives us a first tangible answer. The person concerned explains in his brief message that the two cards will arrive on the market next March.

The Radeon RX 9070 / 9070 XT will arrive in March… and in large numbers

We also learn that AMD will then offer “ a wide assortment of cards available “. This statement directly echoes a slide shared by the brand during CES, detailing the dozen AIB partners who have actually planned to market their own variants of these new Radeons. Among them, some big names like ASUS, AsRock, Gigabyte, or even Sapphire, but also lesser-known brands like Vastarmor or Yeston.

As VideoCardz points out, this launch window in March in any case suggests that AMD has postponed the release of its Radeon RX 9070 / 9070 XT. Initially, it was rumored that marketing at the end of January was planned. It’s a safe bet that the announcement of the GeForce RTX 5070, expected in February from Nvidia, pushed AMD to review its strategy at the last moment.

A credible thesis. We know, for example, that many resellers have already received stocks of these new Radeons (some even since the end of December). So they will have to keep them aside for about two more months before they can do anything with them. A relatively unusual situation.

In any case, AMD’s announcement finally allows us to (approximately) put an end to the calendar. We hope to have great things to discover with these new GPUs, but also with the FSR4 technology that will accompany them.
