How these two robot mowers adapt to small and medium-sized yards

A rising star in the field of robot lawn mowers, Mammotion is launching the Yuka Mini and Luba Mini, intended specifically for plots of 500 to 1,500 m². They retain most of the characteristics of their elders, while adapting to smaller gardens.

Mammotion Luba Mini AWD

In three years of existence, Mammotion has managed to break through and establish itself as one of the references on the robot mower market. The brand has particularly differentiated itself thanks to its Luba range, designed for complex, uneven or steep terrain. The brand has since released a new generation, the Luba 2 AWD, as well as the Yuka, intended for more common gardens and capable of collecting dead leaves and thorns.

This year, the brand is focusing on smaller terrains, by offering its two models in “mini” versions. These are more compact, lighter, but also more agile and above all less expensive.

However, it does not neglect large terrains, since the Yuka and Luba 2 AWD are slightly revised, with some new features.

Mammotion Luba Mini AWD

The Luba Mini AWD uses the same all-terrain platform of the Luba 2 AWD, but in a more compact format. As such, it only weighs 15 kg and is available in three versions, capable of covering areas ranging from 800 to 1,500 m².

Although it is designed for smaller terrain, it is still designed for complex terrain. As such, it can tackle slopes of 80% or 38.6º, as much as the Luba 2 AWD. It also has its double front wheels and even the front bumper for obstacle detection.

As for navigation and obstacle detection, the Luba Mini AWD uses the same RTK positioning technology and will therefore require the installation of an antenna to find its way. However, it benefits from a 3D vision module and AI cameras which allow it to find its way in the event of loss of signal. These sensors are also used to detect and avoid obstacles precisely, just like the Luba 2 AWD already does. However, the Luba 2 Mini does not have an ultrasonic radar for obstacle detection, unlike its big sister. This also does not seem necessary given its format and the other sensors that are sufficiently efficient for obstacle detection.

The cutting disc is, however, different from its predecessor. Indeed, the more compact format of the Luba Mini AWD requires the use of a single six-blade disc, for a cutting width of 20 cm. As for the cutting height, it is electronically adjustable, ranging from 2 to 6.5 cm.

The Luba 2 Mini AWD also has a removable battery, allowing it to be easily replaced when needed. It will be available in two versions, capable of covering an area of 800 or 1,500 m². They will be offered for prices of around 1,500 and 1,800 euros, depending on the version.

Both models are also capable of managing several mowing zones, up to 10 for the Luba Mini AWD 800 and 15 for the Luba Mini AWD 1500.

Mammotion Yuka Mini

The Yuka is also entitled to its miniature version, which represents the entry level of Mammotion. It is available for relatively modest gardens ranging from 500 to 800 m², with a very compact format and a weight of less than 10 kg.

It is characterized by simplified installation, in less than 10 minutes for a plot of 800 m². This is done directly from the application, making it easy to get started for novice users.

Mammotion Yuka Mini

Most navigation and obstacle detection functions are similar to the Yuka, including RTK positioning with antenna. There is an AI camera module, used both for obstacle detection, but also to help with positioning.

Concerning the mowing system, there is a single cutting disc of five blades with a width of 19 centimeters. Just like the classic Yuka, the cutting height is adjusted manually using the dial on the top of the mower, ranging from 2 to 9 cm.

Mammotion Yuka Mini

In addition, although the Yuka Mini is not designed for complex terrain, it is nevertheless capable of handling slopes of 45% or 24º, which is suitable for most gardens.

The new Yuka Mini is available in four versions, which differ in the size of their battery and therefore the size of the land they can mow. We thus find the Yuka mini 500, 600, 700 and 800, which can therefore mow up to 500, 600, 700 or 800 m². The number of mowing zones they can manage also varies, being 3, 5, 7 or 10 respectively, depending on the model.

As for prices, they should be between 800 and 1200 euros, depending on the model.

Mammotion Yuka and Luba 2 AWD improved

In addition to these two new models, Mammotion has slightly improved its existing models. These now benefit from more powerful engines, but also from increased obstacle detection, as well as better autonomy.

The range changes slightly, with the appearance of new variants: The Luba 2 AWD 3000X, 5000X and 10000X, for prices of around 2,500 to 4,500 euros and plots of 3,000 to 10,000 m². The Yuka range has also been slightly revised, with the Yuka 1000, 2000 and 3000, for gardens of 1,000 to 3,000 m².

Mammotion Yuka

The Luba 2 AWD has a double 40 cm cutting disc with six blades per disc, while the Yuka makes do with two 32 cm discs with five blades each. For the first, the height adjusts electronically, ranging from 2.5 to 7 cm. For the Yuka, it can be adjusted manually from 3 to 10 cm.

The new Yuka range continues to be offered with an optional collection bin, practical for dead leaves and thorns.

Cutting-edge technologies

The entire new Mammotion range is at the cutting edge of technology. It is thus managed with the brand’s application, allowing precise management of the mowing parameters, but also the sensitivity of obstacle detection. In addition, since the mowers are equipped with cameras, it is possible to access the video feed live, useful for monitoring your garden for example.

In addition, the entire 2025 range features the brand’s unique innovations, namely grass printing technology. This allows you not to mow certain parts of the grass to create shapes or text. It’s a gadget, but can make an impact in large gardens during a reception.

In addition, they are all capable of mowing the edges of the lawn by overlapping them to center the mowing disc. However, this functionality requires having sufficient space between the lawn and any obstacles, such as plants or a wall.

Of course, Mammotion mowers are compatible with voice assistants, including Google Assistant and Alexa. In addition, they have an onboard 4G module, allowing you to simply add a SIM card to connect them. This approach comes in handy for large areas, where the Wi-Fi signal might be poor.
