The OnePlus 13R will be officially presented in a few days, and we have good news about its photo configuration, which would include a telephoto lens.
A few days ago, OnePlus launched its OnePlus Ace 5 in China. We then thought that the OnePlus 13R expected in Europe soon would take up most of the technical sheet of this smartphone, but it seems that the manufacturer will in fact make some changes. Improvements would be made in particular to the photo part of the mobile.
According to information from the leaker Yogesh Brarthe main photo sensor of the OnePlus 13R is a 50 MP Sony LYT-700. The OnePlus Ace 5 is also equipped with a 50 MP Sony module, but it is the less recent IMX906. The ultra-wide-angle lens, an 8 MP Sony IMX355, is however the same on both models.
A telephoto lens with optical zoom to replace the macro sensor
It is especially at the level of the third sensor that the difference is significant. The OnePlus 13R would feature a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 telephoto lens, capable of 2x optical zoom. If this is confirmed, the OnePlus 13R will be much better equipped than the OnePlus Ace 5, which is satisfied with a much less useful 2 MP macro lens. A leaked render of the OnePlus 13R seems to validate this theory. We clearly see a change for the third lens of the mobile compared to the OnePlus Ace 5.
-The smartphone would come in 12 GB RAM for 256 GB storage and 16 GB RAM for 512 GB storage configurations in India. It is very possible that these versions will also arrive in our regions. LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0 memory technologies would be used.
For the rest, the various leaks rely on the same 12 MP front photo sensor as on the OnePlus 12R, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and a battery with a capacity of 6,000 mAh. Between the integration of a telephoto lens and the large battery, it is not impossible that OnePlus will increase the price of its device. A solid mid-range, the OnePlus 12R was sold for 699 euros when it was released. The official announcement is scheduled for January 7, 2025.
