Monopoly Grand Carcassonne was presented on Thursday November 28 at the Carcassonne Agglo headquarters. A great first in France pour a town to have its own Monopoly.
The Monopoly Grand Carcassonne, local version, was unveiled by Régis Baquet, president of Carcassonne Agglo, Aurélien Turchetto, vice-president of Tourism and the attractiveness of the Territory, and Laurent Caplat, manager of BM Services on Thursday November 28. A first in France for an urban area.
The project was born after awareness during several trips to cities that already had their own Monopoly. “We realized that there was none in the department, and we found that it was a fun way to discover our territory,” explains Aurélien Turchetto.
Subsequently, the city approached the company BM services which is the agency of the publisher Hasbro which owns the rights to Monopoly. Nine long months of collaboration were necessary to create the forty boxes and the visuals of the famous game faithful to Carcassonne.
A fun way to discover Carcassonne
The game has been adapted to the Carcassonne region down to the smallest detail. “It’s an invitation to discover Greater Carcassonne. The four squares of classic Monopoly have been replaced by the wine appellations Malepère, Cabardès, Corbières and Minervois,” explains Aurélien Turchetto.
This collector’s version of Monopoly, published in between 3,500 and 4,000 copies, also catches the eye of collectors. “We even saw a purchase in Quebec,” marvels Aurélien Turchetto. The Vice-President for Tourism and the Territory’s attractiveness specifies that more than 1,000 copies have been sold since the game went on sale on Friday November 29.
The game is available in 21 points of sale in Carcassonne as well as on the BM Services website.
