The new HDMI 2.2 standard will be unveiled at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. This was announced by the HDMI Forum in an email sent to the press.
Here’s what we know
The new standard is expected to support higher resolutions and refresh rates, as well as wider bandwidth. HDMI 2.2 will be the first major update since HDMI 2.1, released in 2017. The latest version, HDMI 2.1b, released in 2023, supports bandwidths of up to 48 Gbps and resolutions of up to 10K.
The new standard is expected to use a new HDMI cable, providing higher quality data transfer and improved performance for gaming, video streaming and professional use. Details will be announced before the official start of CES 2025 on January 6, 2025.
