Apple has released a new update for the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD, tvOS 18.2. This update follows the launch of tvOS 18 in November, a major update adding new InSights, smart captions, and a revamped version of Apple Fitness+.
The tvOS 18.2 release brings support for the 21:9 aspect ratio and a range of other cinematic formats to Apple TV. This gives users an enhanced viewing experience on a compatible projector or display. Additionally, you can now get an ultra-screen view during a FaceTime call. It should be noted that these improvements only apply to the Apple – TV 4K (3rd generation) (128 GB version currently $142.49 at Best Buy).
For 2nd generation models and above, the update also brings new Snoopy and Woodstock screensavers, dynamically adapting based on the current weather, day, or holiday. On top of that, the Enhance Dialogue tool now works with a connected HomePod (2nd gen). This feature makes it easier to hear speech over other background noise, using real-time audio processing combined with machine learning. If you don’t have automatic updates set up, you can manually download the tvOS 18.2 update to your Apple TV by going to Settings > System > Software Updates.
