After iOS 18.1, giving pride of place to the first Apple Intelligence tools, iOS 18.2 is now released. The Apple firm has in fact confirmed the launch of this new software version of the iPhone on December 11, 2024, probably around 7 p.m.
Apple Intelligence on iPhone is improving
For the occasion, the update first brings a new Apple Intelligence side. We are indeed talking about the image generation (Image Playground) and emojis (Genmoji) thanks to artificial intelligence, but also the new Siri powered by ChatGPT.
In prime, Visual Intelligence is there, allowing you to perform a visual search with the camera, accessible directly from the new iPhone button.
Apple Intelligence also has the right to its first expansion in terms of its availability. The English of South Africa, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom are in fact supported thanks to iOS 18.2, thus bringing AI tools to these regions.
As a reminder, the French will wait until 2025, with a potential launch of Apple Intelligence in Europe in April for the marketing of the iPhone SE 4.
Other new features of iOS 18.2
In addition to these new features on the artificial intelligence side, iOS 18.2 also brings notable improvements to iPhones.
This first goes through a iPhone 16 camera control buttonwhich is entitled to an option to manage focus and exposure using light pressure. To do this, simply activate the option in Settings > Camera > Camera control.
L’application Locate allows you to share the location of AirTags with anyone via a simple link, while Mail benefits from a brand new design. Photos is also entitled to some readjustments for video playback, while RCS is finally supported for Free and Bouygues Telecom subscribers.

As a reminder, this update will be available this evening for models ranging from iPhone XR to iPhone 16 Pro Max.
