Mercedes is not a novice in terms of exclusive sports vehicles – the recent period was marked by the McLaren SLR, special AMG -GT versions and the AMG -One supercar – but this is the first time that the A star firm offers a speedster without roof or windshield. Presented in the form of a concept at the last Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco, this vehicle inaugurates a new family of models called Mythos.
His name “Purespeed” leaves no doubt about his vocation. From an AMG-GT with aluminum frame, this model was designed and developed only to experience hair sensations in the wind. His register is pure pleasure. The manufacturer announces that it has particularly cared for the sound of the engine.
High level performance
Through its architecture, it reminds us of the Spider Renault marketed in the 1990s and the recent Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2. The oldest and fans of the Stuttgart brand will also see a tribute to the 300 slr victorious tray of the Mille Miglia of 1955 with Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson.

Through this vehicle, Mercedes sends a strong signal: customers have not given up sports cars with heat engine. Produced in series limited to only 250 numbered units, this tray is driven by the V8 4 liters Biturbo AMG delivering here a power of 585 horsepower and a torque of 800 Nm. This block is combined with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT 9 -speed transmission. As for power and torque, they are transmitted to the four wheels via a fully variable 4Matic all -wheel drive. The performance is high: the 100 km/h is reached in 3.5 seconds and this Spider is able to spin at 315 km/h, always hair in the wind.

A nod to Formula 1, the cabin is crossed by a halo system. He protects the heads of the occupants in the event of an accident and a reversal. This safety device is solidly fixed at the car hull. Mercedes engineers have multiplied attention. Like the Spider Renault, the Spider Purespeed is delivered with two headsets in the colors of the car and equipped with a communication system by intercom.
