With the Google Photos app on mobile, Google is rolling out the ability to easily delete all photos and videos saved in the cloud, without deleting them on the device itself. The feature is simply called “Cancel backup for this device.”
” We understand that sometimes you change your mind or no longer want all of your photos on your device backed up “, justifies Google, which seems to have had a rather late revelation.
On iOS before Android
The new feature first concerns the Google Photos application on iOS. It will arrive later for the Google Photos application on Android, but no schedule is specified, except ” Soon. “
You will need to go to the settings of the Google Photos application, then to Backup to find “Cancel backup for this device.” Before deleting the Google Photos backup, a check box will indicate: ” I understand that my photos and videos from this device will be deleted from Google Photos. “
After deleting Google Photos backup, the choice to backup photos and videos to Google account will be automatically disabled. Reactivation can obviously be done at any time in the settings.
