Indiana Jones protected by Denuvo on PC? Bethesda clarifies the situation | Xbox

Four after the development of an Indiana Jones game was made official by MachineGames, early access for Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle is about to begin. However, some PC players had the unpleasant surprise of discovering on SteamDB that the game will be protected by Denuvo. This is actually a misunderstanding and the studio very quickly spoke out to clarify the situation.

No, Denuvo won't ruin your PC experience

In a now-deleted X post, a user pointed the finger at Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle due to the mention of Denuvo in their SteamDB database. Bethesda quickly responded to reassure players by affirming that the game “does not contain Denuvo”.

In reality, the protection software is indeed present, but only for those who are currently testing the game. This is a simple preventative measure to avoid any leaks before the embargo lifts.

“Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle does not contain Denuvo. It was only present in test versions to avoid leaks. »

Bethesda certainly did well to speak out before information spread too much and the damage was done.

The release of Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle will take place this December 9 on Xbox Series for Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade.

The title will integrate Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming upon launch.

Why is Denuvo being lambasted by gamers?

If you're not familiar with the PC world, then you may not know why Denuvo is being lambasted by gamers. This is an anti-piracy protection solution different from other DRM technologies, as it would be tamper-proof and would not interfere with the gaming experience.

In reality, it's not that simple. Indeed, several games protected by Denuvo were ultimately able to be pirated, thus making it possible to compare them with the protected versions. The problem is that it has been found that pirated versions, which are therefore no longer protected, work better than the official versions!

Thus, players generally do not appreciate anti-piracy solutions implemented in their games.
