It was expected: Wicked is making an impact in cinemas around the world. What was less obvious, however, was that he also did it in a federal court in California.

Holly Ricketson filed a complaint against Mattel after purchasing a Wicked doll for her daughter. On the box there is in fact a reference to a pornographic site, and not to the other dolls as one might expect. The company already apologized in mid-November, but the complainant bought the gift for her daughter on November 11. The latter then used her smartphone to find out more about the other dolls. “To his surprise, the website had nothing to do with the Wicked dollsaid the mother in the complaint. On the contrary, il displayed scenes from pornographic advertisements on the screen of his phone. These scenes were hardcore, fully nude pornographic images depicting real-life sexual intercourse, and may be available for in-camera review by the court if necessary. The minor girl immediately showed the photos to her mother and both were horrified by their contents. If the plaintiff had known of such an inappropriate defect in the product, she would not have purchased it.”
