Surprise, Mario Kart’s best competitor is coming to Xbox Game Pass! | Xbox

While we have only just mentioned the undoubtedly imminent release of Crash Bandicoot 4 in Xbox Game Pass, it is another game from the license which is in the spotlight, but in a completely official way, this this time!

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, the morale-boosting racing game

Nintendo has Mario Kart and Activision has Crash Team Racing. Thus the kart racing game was born in 1999 on the very first PlayStation and developed at the time by the Naughty Dog studio, which we know today mainly for its Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises.

At the time, the game caused a sensation by delighting the press who saw it as a real competitor to Mario Kart, in particular thanks to very good playability and graphics to match. The principle remains the same, namely races in which you can pick up bonus objects to use against your opponents, all in a friendly universe.

This Crash Team Racing is not a revolution, but allows players who do not have a Nintendo console to play a very decent arcade racing game in the same vein. The game was released in a reissue in 2019 called Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (see the game review) and which includes new circuits as a bonus as well as the characters and circuits from Crash Nitro kart, the sequel to CTR.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled coming soon to Xbox Game Pass

Now that Activision Blizzard King is part of the Xbox family, the studio’s games have a greater chance of arriving in the Xbox Game Pass catalog and we therefore learn that Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled will be available in the service from this Wednesday 4 December 2024.

We do not yet know in which subscriptions the game will be available, but we imagine that it will be at least in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass Console. Given its release five years ago, it is not impossible that it will land in Xbox Game Pass Standard, but we should be sure of it in the coming hours. Who knows, with a little luck, a small update will be there to add support for 60 FPS?
