“Imagine if I had to do it manually? I would probably go crazy. » Interviewed by Business Insidera 28-year-old Brazilian with the pseudonym Guilherme came across his extraordinary job search on LinkedIn. The young software engineer used AI to apply for 1,300 jobs available on the professional social network. It ended up working.
An effective method
Concretely, the latter used the AIHawk tool available for free on GitHub. However, it is necessary to have knowledge of the Python programming language to use it. Guilherme's experience therefore played a role in this success.
The system automates the entire process. All they need to do is retrieve the user’s information and complete the application on the platform. It has already attracted 22,000 people around the world.
The engineer explains that, in his case, AIHawk applied to around 50 jobs per day and that some of them led to interviews. Even better, he discovered the job he eventually landed by chance thanks to AI when someone contacted him.
He rightly believes that the massive use of this tool boosted his profile with the LinkedIn algorithm, which at the same time generated attention from recruiters.
This version is, however, rejected by the social network. A spokesperson indicates that it is the fact of keeping your profile up to date that allows you to promote an account. The platform also adds that the use of third-party software, such as bots that automate applications, is prohibited.
Caution remains in order
In March 2024, journalist, Aki Ito tested different job application automation AI bots on the market. She believes that these are useful, but that we must be careful:
It can be incredibly useful for completing tedious tasks. And it will improve over time. But for now, we must remain vigilant. For now, relying on a robot is like entrusting a task to an intern. They are hardworking and helpful, but also inexperienced and underpaid. It is therefore essential to check their work.
The message got through. You can read about his experiment in more detail here.
What to remember:
- More and more job seekers are using AI to automate applications
- This saves a lot of time
- You must also remain cautious and maintain an overview of the process
