Using Linux kernel 6.8.12-4 as the default stable kernel with 6.11 optional, Proxmox Backup Server 3.3 supports ZFS 2.2.6 and is based on Debian version 12.8 “Bookworm”. The list of changes also includes support for removable datastores, new change detection modes and push direction for remote sync tasks, and more.
A week after the introduction of its open source solution Virtual Environment 8.3, the Austrian company Proxmox is back with the latest version of Backup Server, called 3.3. Just like its brother, Proxmox Backup Server 3.3 is an enterprise product based on Debian 12.8 “Bookworm” and comes with Linux kernel 6.8.12-4 by default and 6.11 as an option. ZFS 2.2.6 is also supported out of the box, and compatibility fixes for kernel 6.11 are available if needed.
In addition to the above, here are the other highlights of Proxmox Backup Server 3.3:
- Support for removable datastores.
- New webhook notification target.
- New push direction for remote sync tasks.
- New detection modes for file changes that accelerate file-based host and container backups.
Additionally, many improvements have been made to general client and backend usability. Proxmox Backup Server 2.x can be upgraded to 3.3 with apt. This new version of the backup server allows datastores to be used as storage targets in the Proxmox virtual environment, but requires version 8.3. Downloadable files can be retrieved from this page. Subscriptions start at 520 euros per year.
People looking for an enterprise hard drive can currently pick up the 12TB Seagate IronWolf Pro (ST12000NT001) for $229.99 instead of $249.99 on Amazon.
