Soon you will be able to generate AI images on WhatsApp

WhatsApp has been introducing AI-powered features to its users over the past couple of months. Now, the popular messaging app is taking it a step further with the introduction of a AI feature to generate images of users themselves.

Recently, WhatsApp introduced Meta AIa tool that allows users to generate images from text and chat with AI to solve any question. Now, a new beta version of WhatsApp is reportedly including a feature that will allow users to generate images based on themselves. According to what WABetaInfo discovered, version 2.24.14.13 of the application displays an information card announcing this feature. According to this card, WhatsApp would only need a picture of the user, a generic selfie. From this image, Meta AI can develop different images based on the user’s input in the app.

“This feature allows you to take a photo of yourself once and then ask Meta AI to generate AI images of you,” the information card says. To generate an image, simply write “Picture me..” in Meta AI’s chat or use the command “@Meta AI picture me…” in other WhatsApp chats.

But we are not yet clear on what privacy protection measures Meta will implement in this case: it is assumed that no one else will be able to generate images of a user without their permission, and that the AI model will only respond to the specific image generation command. Will this ultimately be the case?
