PlayStation is thirty years old and obviously, Sony wanted to celebrate. For example, we were treated to the PS5 Pro and Slim 30th Anniversary (without forgetting certain accessories like the DualSense, the DualSense Edge and the PS Portal) in the colors of the PS1, while the official website of the brand comes to update. On this onea retrospective of all PlayStation consoles and products, on which it is possible to click to read anecdotes, watch images and videos and momentarily return to the past. A little cure for nostalgia which will necessarily speak to some.

This little time travel is also accompanied by sales figures: for example, it is displayed (in very, very large letters) that the PlayStation 2 is at 160 million units soldwhich consolidates it in first place for the biggest success in video game history. A figure that has caused a lot of discussion since for a long time, the black monolith remained stuck at 155 million sales.

And the PS Vita, in all this?

Same story for the other consoles: Sony proudly displays the sales figures for the PS1 (102 million), the PS3 (87 million), the PS4 (117 million) but also the PSP, the legendary portable console released in 2004 and which has found more than 80 million takers since its arrival. Except that for its little sister the PlayStation Vita, no figures are given.

A detail quickly noticed by Internet users, who raise a well-known problem: the small portable machine is not really considered a commercial success and moreover, it has definitely pushed Sony out of the portable console race (but that could change soon). So to speak, the Japanese firm simply stopped communicating on sales after passing the four million sales mark at the end of 2012. According to USGamer estimates, 16 million consoles were sold by the end of 2018.

It's all the more a shame since the console was very popular upon its release. Equipped with an OLED touch screen, a touchpad on the back, a gyroscope and even a remote play function barely used for the PS4, the PS Vita has real good potential which will have everything also allowed some nice games to hatch: Gravity Rush, Tearaway, WipEout 2048… so many games which have also been ported to PlayStation 4 in order to ensure profitability as best as possible.
