A true institution in Japan since the end of the 1970s, the Toyota Supra, the fifth version of which dates from 2019, will end its career doubly in style. Here are the Toyota GR A90 Final Edition and Toyota GR Lightweight Evo versions which will be available to order from January 2025.
The fifth generation of the Toyota Supra, internally called A90, appeared in 2019. Designed in partnership with BMW, which took the opportunity to develop its Z4 roadster on this basis, the Japanese sports car is preparing for a successful end to its career. With this in mind, Toyota has concocted two exclusive versions. Let's start with la Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition whose inspiration comes from versions of competitions illustrious in disciplines such as drifting, endurance, NASCAR, as well as in customer-oriented motorsport with to the Toyota GR Supra GT4.
435 hp under the hood of the Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition
The Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition retains a 3-liter in-line six-cylinder engine of BMW origin, associated here with a manual gearbox, but its power has been increased from 340 to 435 hp for a torque value also increasing by 500 to 570 Nm. A big leap forward! These mechanical developments make it possible to increase the top speed by 20 km/h, or a maximum of 270 km/h. The brand indicates that its engineers have notably revised the intake air path and adapted the catalyst to reduce pressure losses. In addition, the handling of the car will be increased through recalibrated steering while the suspension is entrusted to the specialist KW. Adjustable manually rather than controlled, it offers 16 levels of rebound and 12 levels of compression like that used by the competition Supra GT4. The machine is fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires that are 10 mm wider than on the standard version, covering lightweight 19-inch rims at the front and 20 inches at the rear.
Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition : un look plus radical
Braking is also improved with 19-inch Brembo front brakes with high-friction pads. The discs are cross-drilled front and rear, while the brake hoses adopt stainless steel mesh. The beast will be tamed. Cosmetically, this version is distinguished by a front spoiler, aerodynamic blades on the corners of the shield and a central carbon fiber front flap. The stern is characterized by a carbon fiber swan neck spoiler, the styling of which is again inspired by the GR Supra GT4. In addition, a new carbon fiber duct placed on the hood features a removable interior element for additional cooling in track use when removed. This Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition is equipped with an Akrapovič titanium silencer whose sound will be appreciated… or not. It will be a limited edition with global production of only 300 units, all sporting a matte black livery.
A lighter recipe for the Toyota Supra GR Lightweight Evo
For its part, the Toyota GR Supra Lightwreight Evo relies on weight reduction, the value of which has not been communicated by the manufacturer. In any case, we will remain far from the lightness of an Alpine A110 given the initial weight difference close to 400 kilos. Toyota specifies, however, that the machine benefits from active differential control and specific engine maps. While the chassis has a revised camber angle and reworked ground connections. The stern of the Toyota Supra GR Lightweight Evo will be more discreet than that of the Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition, the goal of this version not being the same. Indeed, its ducktail type fin is much less imposing. Note that the Toyota GR Supra Lightwreight Evo is fitted with 19-inch wheels at the front and rear. In the passenger compartment, the black upholstery is enhanced by red stitching matching the color of the bodywork. The hardest part will be choosing between the red or the black? Unless you take both… The updated Toyota GR Supra Lightweight Evo and Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition will be available to order in Europe from January 2025. They should remain extremely rare in France, where the classic versions have not found only six amateurs since the start of 2024…
