Fred Swaniker (pictured) is a Ghanaian entrepreneur and recognized expert in leadership development. He is the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Sand Technologies, a company specializing in data and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
Founded in 2023, Sand Technologies’ mission is to help businesses harness the potential of AI and data to solve their business challenges and achieve meaningful results. The company provides innovative technology solutions across diverse industries, such as telecommunications, utilities, entertainment, manufacturing, healthcare and insurance.
Present in America, France and Africa, Sand Technologies also offers services in enterprise AI, data science, software engineering and Internet of Things (IoT). It collaborates with both start-ups and large organizations and companies, asserting its key role in the global technology landscape.
At the same time, Fred Swaniker is the founder of African Leadership Group, an organization created in 2004 with the ambition of transforming Africa by training three million entrepreneurial leaders by 2035. This initiative aims to develop a community of connected African leaders, talented and influential through training, networking and talent development centers.
In 2001, he co-founded Synexa Life Sciences, a South Africa-based provider of biomarkers and bioanalytical services, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. He also founded Global Leadership Adventures (GLA) in 2004, an organization providing overseas educational programs for high school students, of which he served as CEO until 2006.
Fred Swaniker holds a bachelor’s degree in economics obtained in 1999 from Macalester College, in the United States. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration obtained in 2004 from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. His professional career began in 1999 at McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, where he worked as a business analyst.
Recognized for his influence, Fred Swaniker was named in 2011 among the 10 most influential young men in Africa by Forbes magazine. In 2019, Time magazine listed him among the 100 most influential people in the world.
