This is some funny information that has been circulating on social networks for a few days. Since last year, Playstation players have reportedly been contacted by other users to report that their data was being stolen and sold by certain employees of the company that handles telephone support for the Playstation Network. Sony has not yet reacted to this rumor, supported only by a screenshot showing the existence of these Playstation chat groups which mention this potential data leak.

Beware of scam

The company in question, Foundever, is said to be a call center based in El Salvador. If the company does indeed manage support for the Playstation Network, it would also be known for “corruption and questionable practices”.

In reality, this is most certainly a scam aimed at stealing user data. By digging a little, it's difficult to find any trace of these potential data thefts or any official message addressing this possible security breach. On the other hand, there are many cases of players who have received this type of message, without following up. On Reddit in particular, several Playstation users mentioned having received this type of messages before reporting it to Playstation, which did not react. In the absence of communication from Sony, we therefore recommend that you avoid interacting with these users if you receive a similar message.
