WhatsApp is catching up with other messaging services and is finally integrating a long-awaited function: drafts. Thanks to it, you no longer risk forgetting half-written messages!
WhatsApp is such a practical instant messaging tool that we easily find ourselves having dozens, or even more, conversations at the same time. Between discussions with loved ones and group discussions, we can quickly become overwhelmed and get lost in the thread of numerous conversations! How many times have we started to write a message, only to be interrupted? Result: we are surprised not to receive a response, even though the message is simply being written and has never been sent. How many loved ones have been left stranded for this reason? Far too much. This is why messaging now accepts drafts.
WhatsApp draft: no longer forget half-written messages
Now, when you start writing a message without sending it, WhatsApp automatically saves it as a draft. This results in a green “Draft” indicator followed by a preview of the unsent text in the conversation list. Moreover, those containing a draft are automatically moved to the top of the list, so that we do not forget to return to them later.
Subsequently, when you reopen the conversation, the unfinished message appears directly in the input field, allowing you to resume writing where you left off. The feature is currently being rolled out to the iOS and Android versions of the app. The web and macOS versions should receive this update in the coming days. It remains to be seen why WhatsApp waited so long before deploying such a basic function. Mystery…
