Microsoft has just made Windows 11 available to download as an ISO file for Arm devices. This long-awaited release finally allows users to install Windows 11 on Arm with more flexibility and simplicity.
For several years, Windows users on Arm devices have been waiting for a simplified way pour install operating system. Until now, Microsoft only offered Windows 11 on Arm via an update or virtual disk file (VHDX), which made the installation more complex and less flexible.
From now on, Microsoft allows direct downloading of a ISO file of Windows 11 on Armwhich offers wider possibilities. The latter can be used to create virtual machines, make updates of the existing system, or to create bootable media allowing the installation of Windows on other compatible devices, whether for testing or personal use.

The ISO file made available by Microsoft is a multi-edition version : Users simply need to enter their product key to unlock the edition corresponding to their license. However, the company specifies that some Arm devices will require additional drivers supplied by the manufacturer (OEM) to ensure complete and stable installation. Newer devices with Snapdragon X-series processors can usually boot without additional drivers, but for optimal performance it is still necessary to download the latest drivers via Windows Update after installation.

For older devices with Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 or earlier processors, installation without drivers of the manufacturer may cause startup problems. Users of these devices will need to inject the OEM drivers into the ISO file to ensure proper installation.
