Remember, a few days ago, we told you about this new feature introduced in the second developer beta of iOS 18.2 (available in December to the general public). The latter allows you to share the location of an AirTag with a “trusted person” from Locate.

Thanks to a link, it will be able to obtain the geolocation of your device. It can be opened on any browser on a Mac as well as on a PC, an iPhone or an Android smartphone.

A partnership with 15 airlines

As part of this new tool, the Cupertino company has revealed a partnership with 15 airlines. The idea being to help you locate the “mishandled or delayed baggage”.

The apple brand specifies in a press release:

In the coming months, more than 15 airlines serving millions of people around the world, including Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Eurowings, Iberia, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, United, Virgin Atlantic and Vueling, will begin accepting my item locations as part of their customer service process to locate mishandled or delayed baggage. More airlines will be added over time.

The Tech giant also specifies that it has communicated directly with these companies to deploy secure and privacy-friendly systems. Access to each link will be limited to a select number of people and recipients will be required to authenticate to view the link through their Apple account or partner email address.
