After Apple, Samsung is also working on a thinner version of its future smartphone, the Galaxy S25.
In 2025, smartphones could become thinner. Starting with those from Samsung. At the end of October, a South Korean media outlet revealed that the manufacturer was working on a thinner version for the successor to the Galaxy S24, which would be announced in the second quarter of 2025.
The Smartprix site provided more information on this subject this Wednesday, November 6. He discovered, in a database used by Samsung, the presence of a model with the commercial name “Galaxy” and the number “SM-S937U”, which would correspond to the “Galaxy S25 Slim”.
Thinner smartphones from Samsung and Apple
As Smartprix explains, the database already includes the model numbers of the Galaxy S25 range, namely “SM-S931” for the S25, “SM-S936” for the S25+ and “SM-S938” for the S25 Ultra. Or numbers similar to that of the thinner version.
The site specifies that the letter U at the end of the number refers to “US” or the United States. It would therefore be the American version of the “Galaxy S25 Slim” which would be visible in this database, but Samsung could, later, add other variants.
Still according to Smartprix, the appearance of this model number also reveals when it will be launched. Samsung would indeed add them to this database six to seven months before its launch. Added at the beginning of November, this “Galaxy S25 Slim” would be unveiled around June.
Samsung shouldn’t be the only manufacturer to launch a thinner version of its smartphone next year. Apple would also be working on such a project for its iPhone 17. An iPhone that would be thinner, but also very expensive, with a price higher than the Pro Max model (from 1,479 euros).
