Réjean Desrosiers has been with Le Cristal for 33 years.
Réjean Desrosiers is one of the best-known faces of the Le Cristal convenience store since he has worked there as a pump attendant for 33 years now,
Aged 70, Réjean started working for the convenience store Le Cristal in the early 1990s. The latter had left his job at BMR because he wanted to support his sister who was planning to acquire the small gas station there. ‘Avenue du Phare. “The transaction didn’t happen but I stayed anyway. I worked for Alain Ouellet for several years, then for David Gagné. Then came Bruno and Éric Bouchard. And finally Martin who acquired the service station in 2022.”
Réjean Desrosiers has known several owners, but also many work colleagues who have paraded over the years. Always ready to help and pass on his knowledge, he supports his new workmates in their training so that they become customer service experts like what its owner, Martin Charrette, wants. “I’m also the one who prepares Sylvie’s coffee in the morning,” he adds with a laugh.
He also greatly appreciates the trust and freedom his boss gives him. “I wake up around 3:30 in the morning, eat breakfast and arrive at the station before everyone else. I make sure everything is ready for opening. I place the tablets and wash the pumps. I also take care of orders for oil and window cleaners. My next project is to have a beautiful container for the wood. »
As for what pushed Réjean to stay so long within the company, the latter simply answers that he appreciates contact with the public. “I love being around the world and offering different services to customers like checking the oil or adding window cleaner. I like to please,” says the man for whom the service station no longer holds any secrets.
Same thing for customers whose habits he knows. “There are several that I don’t even need to ask them anymore because I already know. I think that’s one of the things people appreciate about me. In addition, we will seek out new customers when we tell them what we can offer them. »
Happy in the position he holds with a boss he likes, the gas station attendant does not intend to retire anytime soon. “If health permits, I intend to continue for a long time,” he concludes.
