The X-Ray Recaps feature will allow you to summarize an episode of a series in its entirety, a concise part of an episode or previous seasons. “Safeguards” have been placed to avoid summaries containing major spoilers.
Prime Video revealed on his blog “X-Ray Recaps”, a new feature which is particularly practical. Concretely, X-Ray Recaps works thanks to artificial intelligence and offers its users textual summaries of seasons of series, episodes or even parts of episodes. It will thus be possible to request the summary of an episode up to the minute you stop watching.
As Prime Video explains, the X-Ray Recaps feature: “ analyzes various video segments, combined with subtitles or dialogue, to generate detailed descriptions of key events, locations, times and conversations ».
In addition, Prime Video applies “guardrails” intended to avoid major spoilers in the summary of an episode. If this feature proves effective, it will no longer be necessary to search for summaries on Google with the risk of being spoiled.
But how will this functionality be accessible? Prime Video subscribers will be able to access the X-Ray Recaps tool from a series’ details page. Another possibility: while watching an episode, the user can request a summary from the video player.
Regardless of how you access it, X-Ray Recaps will offer 3 options: summarizing an entire episode, summarizing part of an episode, or summarizing previous seasons.
Currently in beta, the X-Ray Recaps feature is currently only available to US users of Fire TV products. Support for “additional devices” is planned by the end of the year.
Finally, note that this functionality concerns, for the moment, only the original series from Amazon MGM Studios.
