Dominant in GPUs, Nvidia would launch into CPUs in 2025

According to the media Digitimes, the PC market could well be very seriously shaken up in September 2025. It is at this time that Nvidia could well launch into the sector of processors for PC to compete with AMD and Intel, manufacturers which are already trying to play on the CPU and GPU tables. Failing to be able to buy ARM in 2022, Nvidia could ultimately offer a CPU inspired by the ARM architecture, with designs combining CPU and GPU.

A CPU sector on the move

Intended for “premium” general public configurations, these CPU/GPUs could therefore be presented, or even launched within less than a year, then marketed more generally in March 2026. The exact terms of this potential two-stage launch are not for not clear at the moment. The fact remains that Nvidia's solution would benefit from its experience acquired on various previous products, in particular Tegra processors and even AI.

Still according to Digitimes, Nvidia would work both on PC platforms based on its own designs, but also on platforms in partnership with MediaTek. Exactly what the company intends to offer the chameleon, between a mainstream processor with an integrated GPU or a more high-end processor with the need for a separate GPU for video games, remains subject to conjecture.

Always more competition

In any case, if Nvidia were to succeed, there is no doubt that its main competitors, AMD and Intel, will have to react. Especially the latter, in difficulty on both the CPU and GPU side. Final changes of plans in this last area would also be underway to avoid having to abandon it completely.

We should also not forget Qualcomm with its Snapdragon X Plus/Elite. The days when PCs were powered only by Intel and AMD CPUs may soon be over. Especially since Qualcomm's exclusivity on Windows on Arm could soon end, opening the door to even more players.
