Apple’s push for its high-end mobile devices is going through a number of steps, the first of which is turning its latest prototypes into handsets that can be assembled at scale. Known as New Production Introduction, this is an important milestone in the iPhone’s lifecycle, at least internally.
The introduction of new production most often takes place in China. However, the Cupertino giant would have other plans for the manufacture of successors to the current 16 series.
The electronics giant apparently wants to begin the phase in factories in India, an alternative manufacturing hub in which iPhones are already assembled at various stages of the process. As a result, it appears that Apple wants to diversify its production capacity as well as its component supply.
If so, the changes could be introduced gradually from 2025. The introduction of new production will be completed in India for the basic iPhone 17 model, and not for the Air, Pro and Pro Max model siblings and sisters.
