The company will present a surprise show, promising announcements of new games for its console.

New Playstation games: Sony will present this Thursday, May 30 at 11:59 p.m. (French time) a show “State of Play”. Lasting around thirty minutes and broadcast live on YouTube, Twitch and TikTok, the event promises “announcements on PS5 and PS VR2 titles, plus a preview of PlayStation Studios games coming out later this year”, writes the manufacturer on his blog. Fourteen titles will be presented, Sony indicates, without giving further details.

Fans’ expectations are high, especially since the console has seen few new exclusive games released in recent months. Sony had, however, warned at the start of 2024 that it did not plan to release any exclusive titles from major franchises for the coming fiscal year. But specified that several projects were in development.

Released in 2020, the PS5 exceeded 50 million copies sold, Sony indicated at the end of 2023, after a debut – in the middle of Covid – marked by shortages complicating the purchase of the console. In its latest financial results, presented on May 14, Sony estimated that the console was entering the “second half of its life cycle” and says he expects a decline “progressive” Sales. With these announcements this Thursday, the manufacturer hopes to generate renewed interest in its console. Above all, it pulls the rug out from under the feet of its competitors, who must announce new features during the Summer Game Fest at the beginning of June.
