Moto2 Italy – Jake Dixon ambitious before the Italian GP – Paddock GP

After securing his first podium of the season in Barcelona, Jake Dixon wants to continue his momentum. The Aspar team driver will have the opportunity to do so this weekend in Italy. On the sidelines of the latter, the Briton has therefore revised his objectives upwards: the challenge will be to achieve a weekend similar to that of Barcelona.

The Catalan Grand Prix welcomed the resurrection of Jake Dixon after a chaotic start to the season, marked by injuries. If the first five Grands Prix of the season were not kind to him, the sixth rather smiled on him. Author of a remarkable performance in the race, Dixon took advantage of excellent management of his tires to make his way to the top of the hierarchy, and thus offer himself a place on the podium.

After putting an end to this bad patch, it will therefore be a question for the Briton of making up for the accumulated delay. To do this, the Team Aspar driver will only be satisfied with a podium this weekend, during the Italian Grand Prix on the Mugello circuit.

“I am sure that from now on things will change, says Dixon on the sidelines of the event. In Barcelona we broke away from a series of bad races, which we had been dragging since the start of the season.

We finally got what we had been chasing for so long, and now in Mugello we will try to repeat that feat » he concludes.

Last season, the Italian meeting saw him finish on the lowest step of the podium, after a sparkling second part of the event, during which he got the better of Aron Canet on the last lap.

This time around, he will have to face Aron Canet again, but it is Sergio Garcia and Ai Ogura who have been the most formidable opponents for most of the riders during the last two meetings of the Moto2 season.

On the other side of the Aspar garage, Izan Guevara hopes to bounce back after a Catalan Grand Prix which he ended in the gravel trap on the first lap.

“I arrive at Mugello with a lot of revenge, because in Barcelona I couldn’t even finish a lap in the race. Mugello is a very technical circuit, but I will give everything to obtain the best possible result,
he assures. We are getting stronger and stronger and we will try to fight to be in front. »
