Abdelkrim Saifi wins the 2024 national literature grand prize from the Lions Clubs of France for his first novel If I had a franc, published by Anne Carrière. It was presented to him on May 25 during the National Convention of the Lions Clubs of France in Orléans.

If I had a Franc is a tribute to the writer’s parents, immigrants from Algeria devoted to the integration and success of their children. “By taking up his pen to romanticize his family history, Abdelkrim Saifi offers us a magnificent giftexposed Eric Fouassierwriter and president of the jury. We were touched by this story, which mixes the intimate and the great History with sensitivity, never Manichean and always luminous. At a time when politicians from all sides are tackling the issue of immigration, it is almost salutary to listen to the literary testimony that a writer can provide. If I Had a Franc is not only a beautiful book, it is a useful book. »
