Initially, the Triangle speaker manufacturer did not specialize in vinyl turntables at all. But he has the knack of knowing how to surround himself to offer models with an excellent price/performance ratio developed to measure to accompany his active hi-fi speakers.

Indeed, the French brand has been working in collaboration with the Austrian Pro-Ject for several years now to design Triangle-branded vinyl turntables. After a discreet first edition released in 2017, the manufacturer thought it would be wise to offer them more character. Thus, the first Lunar of the name will be released in 2023, at the same time as the entry-level active speakers Borea BR02 Connect and Borea BR03 Connect.

Alongside the marketing of its Capella premium active speakers, Triangle is back at it again with the new Lunar 3, a more refined model.

Carbon tonearm and anti-vibration chassis

Most certainly based on the chassis of a Debut Carbon Evo from Pro-Ject, the Lunar 3 has everything of a carefully designed hi-fi turntable. Above all, it combines fully manual operation and a belt-driven motor. Nothing here will disorient seasoned vinyl collectors. The subtlety compared to the Lunar is the use of a straight carbon tonearm. Combining rigidity and lightness, this type of material is known to promote precise reading of information engraved in the grooves of vinyl records.

The Lunar 3 turntable also gives pride of place to anti-vibration properties, with a motor equipped with two sorbothane silent blocks. The plate is placed on a high-density MDF chassis mounted on three shock-absorbing feet, the role of which is to prevent the transmission of mechanical vibrations generated by the speakers.

A well-built turntable within everyone’s reach

Intended for all types of users, the Lunar 3 comes with an Ortofon 2M Red phono cartridge aligned and tuned at the factory. We can therefore expect good performance right out of the box, without complicated additional handling. Equipped with a fairly thin elliptical diamond, this cell model is also recognized for its good tracking capabilities and its detailed sound reproduction. Of course, Triangle allows the user to replace it and make their own adjustments using a counterweight and an anti-skating system.

Versatile, the Lunar 3 turntable is equipped with an integrated phono preamp making it easy to connect to any amplifier or active speakers. It is of course possible to deactivate it to take advantage of the external phono preamp of your choice.

The Triangle Lunar 3 turntable is available this October in blue, white and black finishes at a price of €699.
