Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has just been made official, but it’s a completely different competitive FPS launched recently that has shone in recent days.

The FPS that challenges the competition

Call of Duty fans have finally discovered the next game in the license. After the existence of a teaser video and a mysterious site was discovered, Activision has finally made the next installment of Call of Duty official, Black Ops 6, which should be presented in detail during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9. But in the meantime, it’s another competitive FPS that’s a hit with players. Thus, Ubisoft has probably launched XDefiant successfully while the game would have recorded more than a million players barely 2h30 after its release on May 21 according to InsiderGaming. A successful launch, but tarnished by some connection problems.

Go the distance

These impressive numbers mark the best launch for a Ubisoft game. But it is also a success for the genre in itself: for comparison, Apex Legends, another popular competitive FPS, welcomed over a million players within 8.5 hours of its launch. That being said, the launch of XDefiant was not spared technical problems. From its inception, the game encountered several connection problems, with a high latency rate, the inability for players to initiate matchmaking and unexpected disconnections. Ubisoft nevertheless reacted in the best possible way and corrected the situation several hours later. XDefiant is now ready to welcome players and stand out in a genre dominated by behemoths. It remains to be seen whether the free-to-play model of the game, the seasons and the Battle Passes will manage to maintain the interest of the community in the long term and allow XDefiant to fight on equal terms against games as imposing as Call of Duty.
