Hammerhead recently announced the release of its new GPS computer, the Karoo. With a design designed for performance and simplified use, this new tool promises to meet the needs of cyclists.

Hammerhead (and the SRAM group) unveils the Karoo, a new GPS computer

Equipped with many advanced features, the Karoo stands out for its robustness and precision.

Hammerhead also collaborates with renowned professional teams, such as Bora Hansgrohe and Canyon SRAM Racing.

These partnerships make it possible to test and perfect the Karoo in competition conditions, thus ensuring performance that meets the expectations of the most demanding cyclists.

The Hammerhead Karoo is equipped with a 3.2-inch screen, offering a resolution of 480×800 pixels. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, the screen guarantees excellent durability and exceptional clarity. Bright colors and display quality, comparable to those of smartphones, make information easy to read.

Under the hood, the Karoo is powered by a 2.0 GHz Quad Core processor, combined with 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM. These specifications ensure smooth use and large storage capacity for maps and training data.

The brand announces that the battery life exceeds 15 hours, and the recharge reaches 30% in just 30 minutes and 100% in just 3 hours. The Karoo is also water resistant with an IP67 certification.

The Karoo features ANT+ and Bluetooth connectivity, making it easy to connect to various sensors. Multi-band GNSS satellite connectivity (L1+L5), GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and BEIDOU ensures precise location, whether in an urban environment or on isolated trails in the forests.

One of the strengths of the Karoo is its compatibility with SRAM AXS products. This integration allows for detailed battery monitoring, simplified control configuration and automatic pairing of AXS sensors. Riders can also receive low battery notifications for AXS components directly on the Karoo.

The Companion application, available on iOS and Android, enriches the Karoo user experience. It makes it easy to share data and plan routes without requiring a WiFi connection. Cyclists can upload their routes, sync workouts, and use quick navigation by sending a waypoint from Google Maps or Apple Maps.

The Karoo also offers state-of-the-art navigation with free maps available globally and instant route synchronization. Multi-band technology ensures precise localization, and automatic detection of climbs allows efforts to be adjusted according to the terrain.

The Karoo is priced at €499.99. It is available from the official Hammerhead website as well as from SRAM distributors and dealers.

The Karoo comes with:

  • The Hammerhead Karoo bike computer
  • A 31.8mm Hammerhead mounting system
  • A USB-C to USB-C charging cable
  • A safety strap

With its cutting-edge technical characteristics and numerous functionalities, the Hammerhead Karoo is positioned as a tool to test for cyclists wishing to fully enjoy their outings.
