The most premium smartphone of the Oppo brand’s comeback is already cheaper on Amazon

It was this summer that the Oppo brand made its comeback in with the launch of its Reno 12 range. The muscular version of the series, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro, is already on sale on Amazon, which offers this durable smartphone at 522.40 euros instead of 549.90 euros.

After deciding, in 2023, to cease its activities in France, Oppo officially made its comeback on our soil this summer. The Chinese manufacturer then presented its new Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro, the current representatives of its range of mid/high-end smartphones. The Pro version is the one that we tested and included directly in our top 3 of the brand’s best smartphones, as its technical sheet includes almost everything we expect from a 550 euro model today. And this reference is even more worth it when it’s on sale, like right now.

The strong points of the Oppo Reno 12 Pro

  • A thin and light smartphone
  • A perfectly calibrated screen
  • AI functions
  • Excellent autonomy

Launched at 549.90 euros, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro (12+512 GB) is today available on sale at 522.40 euros on Amazon. So yes, it’s a small reduction, but there are no small savings!

If, subsequently, the offer mentioned in this article is no longer available, please take a look below to find other offers for the Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5G. The table updates automatically.

A well-built smartphone

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro is a particularly well-designed smartphone, with its ultra-thin chassis (7.4 mm thick) and its featherweight of 180 g. The brand obviously wanted to focus on finesse and lightness, which does not displease us, as the handling is so pleasant. Oppo has also opted for a frosted glass back (Gorilla Glass 7i), which helps prevent any slipping between the hands. But what is even more intriguing about this design is this screen equipped with a Splash Touch function, which allows the touch screen to respond correctly even in the rain. And let us tell you, it works like a charm. A nice choice from the brand, which has thought of those who struggle to use their smartphone when the screen is wet…

As for its screen, we are treated here to a 6.7-inch panel that is flat and slightly rounded on all four sides, which is also protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, usually reserved for high-end smartphones. Here, the panel is also Amoled and supports a refresh of 60 and 120 Hz. Be careful, the automatic mode of this rate is a little capricious. Otherwise, the screen offers an honest rendering, although quite cold, but you will obtain much better quality by selecting the Cinematic colorimetric mode, which allows you to enjoy a perfectly calibrated image. In terms of maximum brightness, this amounts to 1,216 nits, which is sufficient for outdoor use, even in direct sunlight. In short, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro has one of the best screens on the market.

AI and great endurance

The Oppo Reno 12 Pro runs Android 14 and uses the ColorOS 14.1 interface, still pleasant to use and rich in interesting options. Above all, it provides several artificial intelligence functions; Oppo is in fact the only manufacturer with Google to offer such AI functions on a smartphone for less than 600 euros. Google Gemini, the former Google Assistant, the AI Eraser magic eraser or even AI Clear Face which corrects depth blur in group photos are thus in the game. Other functions will arrive (AI Editor, AI Summary, etc.). In terms of performance, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro now has a Dimensity 7300 Energy SoC. If in the benchmarks, it completely crushes, in daily use, it works wonders and demonstrates great fluidity and good responsiveness. It can even run very demanding games correctly, that’s saying something.

As for its photo module, it consists of a stabilized wide-angle of 50 Mpx, an ultra-wide-angle of 8 Mpx and a telephoto lens (x2 optical, x20 digital) of 50 Mpx . The x2 optical zoom delights us, while the main sensor allows us to capture very sharp shots with lots of detail, including in dark areas. The ultra wide-angle, however, is a bit disappointing. Finally, in terms of autonomy, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro integrates a 5,000 mAh battery which quite simply allows it to be among the most enduring smartphones in its category. Thanks to it, we can go through two days of work without seeing a catch. On the charging side, no induction here, but fast wired, up to 80 W; Please note, no power supply is provided.
