It was on September 5, at the Lorette Golf Club, that Branch 265 of the Royal Canadian Legion held its very first golf tournament. Harnold Savardprincipal administrator of Branch 265 and who served in the Forces for 31 years; the retired captain Fred Caron, who served for 25 years in the Forces and received numerous decorations, including the Medal of Military Valor from the Governor General of Canada; and the vice-president of operations of the Port of Quebec, Mr.e Pascal Raby, acted as honorary co-presidents of the tournament which brought together around a hundred participants. The Oktoberfest for the benefit of Œuvres Jean Lafrance is back, this evening from 6 p.m., at Mercedes-Benz in Quebec. Isabelle Parent, owner and president, and Dave Carter (photo), co-owner and DA approved real estate broker of the Royal LePage Blanc & Noir real estate agency (photos), have accepted the honorary co-president of the 2024 event. It is also this evening, this time at the Cercle de la Garrison, that the 10e Pool du Cercle under the honorary presidency of Marc Fortier (photo), former Quebec Nordique between 1987 and 1992. Each participant will have to choose 8 attackers, 6 defenders and 2 goalkeepers in order to constitute their own draft. The future will obviously tell us who will have had the best selection at the end of the next season, which took off recently. The big winner of the 2024-2025 pool will be presented with a jersey autographed by Theoren Fleury, former Calgary Flames player, who notably won the Stanley Cup in 1989. As for the profits of the evening, they will once again be this year divided between two organizations: Family Resources Côte-de-Beaupré and Amélie & Frédérick, mutual aid service.
