Google is renewing its range of video surveillance solutions this year 2021 with a new doorbell and no less than three cameras. Among them, the Nest Cam (battery) is intended to be the most versatile and the easiest to install.

The Nest Cam (battery) has a neat and clever design and delivers excellent performance. Its motion detection is effective and the quality is there for both the image and the sound. This new Nest Cam, however, ignores functions that have become common in its price range and the Home application, which now completely replaces that of Nest, still needs to be improved despite Google’s additions. The Ezviz BC1 presents a better quality/price ratio.
NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude the prices of stores whose the VAT policy is not clear (so-called “gray” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).
An alternative
The Tapo C510W is a classic, but well thought out, motorized camera. It has a reliable detection system and monitors several areas if necessary, in addition to tracking intruders by filming them. The image quality is also there. Certainly, its projector lacks power for truly usable color night vision, but infrared is extremely effective.
