The Orléans association Hospi’Cool revamps the blouses of caregivers in hospitals

De-dramatize the hospitalization of children, make them less impressed by medical care when they have an operation to undergo or treatment to receive. It is the objective of a young association “Hospi’Cool”, created three years ago by two Orléans residents. Audrey and Aurélie, mothers of sick children who had to go to the hospital. This is how they came up with the idea of make the white coats of caregivers more “funny”.

Aurélie says she saw Marjolaine his little one girl traumatized by the white coat. “From her first operation, because she was born with congenital heart disease. After a month of hospitalization, she could no longer stand seeing a caregiver enter her room. So one day I said we have to do something, you have to invent a blouse with patterns and colors.” The initial idea was launched. “The caregivers were demanding and the children’s eyes sparkled when they talked about it. So we decided to set up this Hospi’Cool association.”

14 different models

The two friends then imagined several outfits – there are fourteen different models – which they had made respecting precise standards imposed by hospitals. “Our blouses must be approved in terms of materials and for the laundry service, once washed at 60 degrees, they must not come out all discolored” explains Aurélie Morin. All this obviously has a costthis is why the association, which has some corporate sponsors, is trying to raise funds from individuals.

The Clocheville hospital for sick children in Tours will be the first to be delivered by the end of the year. And discussions with the pediatric department of Orléans University Hospital are well advanced.

“Long live the fun colored blouse”

Among the visitors who came there yesterday, some really appreciated it. This is the case of Virgillia Aillet, night nurse at Montargis hospital who is enthusiastic about the “funny blouse”. “My immaculate white coat without any reason is absolutely sad and it causes a lot of anxiety among children and even parents” she says. So see all these animals, butterflies, ladybugs, savannah lions, koalas, but also a rainbow and a circuit of toy cars drawn on a blouse, “It’s absolutely great, it will definitely bring more relaxation for the child and his family.”

Barter the classic sad white outfitthe Montargo caregiver only asks for this, “you can see it clearly when you arrive in a little patient’s room already with a funny pen, it’s nicer for everyone.” We have to manage to distract the children during their hospitalization, she insists. Convinced of the project, she promises to talk about it to her management who will inevitably be excited “since it is for the good of the children”.
