This is news that should delight the most nostalgic. In March, the company HMD Global, which designs and markets Nokia phones, announced the “return of an icon” in May.

The Finnish firm was careful not to reveal the identity of this surprise model. But according to the specialized site Nokiamob relayed by BFM Tech & Co it could be the iconic 3210, a flagship model from the 2000s.

A mysterious photo on social networks

The site claims to have learned this information during a “launch event” in Kenya on April 26, where HMD presented its latest models, including its HMD Pulse smartphone. “Twenty-five years later, the legendary telephone is back”praises the firm in a communication campaign, without specifying which model it is.

In its announcement published on X (formerly Twitter) in March, the company revealed a photo that was not very evocative at first glance. We can see, in pixelated version, a balloon and what looks like the back of a yellow phone equipped with a camera. Version in which the Nokia 3210 was available.

In addition, Nokia’s publication, March 18, 2024, corresponds to the anniversary date of this model released on March 18, 1999. The Nokia 3210 was a real phenomenon with more than 160 million units sold.

Several models reissued in the past

HMD Global has already marketed several modernized versions of old Nokias. In 2018, the Finnish firm released its 8110 model, nicknamed “ Banana Phone », whose popularity was boosted by his appearance in the film Matrix (1999). A year earlier, the Nokia 3310 made its comeback, after having sold 126 million copies.
