This new Tag Heuer watch at only 1,500 euros revisits an icon and could be as successful as the Omega MoonSwatch

Tag Heuer’s Formula 1 collection marked the 1980s as it was the first composite quartz timepiece. The small 35 mm diameter watch introduces a bold color and a case with a modern and industrial style to pilots’ wrists. This collection, released in 1986, helped establish the brand in the biggest races in the world such as the Carrera Panamericana. 38 years later, the Formula 1, its personalized hour hand and its recognizable bezel are revisited by a pillar of streetwear.

Ronnie Fieg, a passionate collector

Enthusiasts began collecting this Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch in 1986. One young man, in particular, scoured the sales, and first obtained a red watch, then a black one. This collector is none other than Ronnie Fieg, the founder of the streetwear brand Kith. In addition to the sneakers that the brand offers with pillars of the sector like New Balance or adidas, Ronnie Fieg offers clothing and accessories with a casual style. Ultimately, this collaboration with Tag Heuer stands out as a logical continuation of his career. Especially since the revisited collection, Formula 1, already made an impression at the time with its bold colors and innovative design, the DNA of Kith.

A successful merger between the two brands

Committed to always offering resistant products, the Kith brand revisits Tag Heuer’s Formula 1 collection with materials more suited to performance. The plastic crystal is thus replaced by sapphire glass, while the plastic of the bracelet disappears in favor of rubber. This does not prevent the watch from retaining the essence of the original model: Tag Heuer called on its case supplier of the time and goes so far as to use the original mold of the 1986 creations.
