With the HT-A5000, Sony presents a successful soundbar in many respects. It offers a sound signature as pleasant for musical content as for viewing cinematographic works thanks to a particularly immersive audio scene. It also integrates numerous connection possibilities and offers a complete user experience, although a little complex for beginners.

Strong points

  • Good bass extension, even without an external subwoofer.
  • Balance of sound signature.
  • Very convincing surround and elevation effects.
  • Highly efficient automatic acoustic calibration.
  • Very broad compatibility in terms of wireless protocols and audio/video streams.
  • Particularly practical TV interface.

Weak points

  • Lack of bass precision.
  • Design a little too rough.
  • Many buttons on the remote control, which complicates the experience.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude the prices of stores whose the VAT policy is not clear (so-called “gray” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).

The JBL Bar 300 is a versatile and easy-to-use all-in-one sound bar, capable of attracting users wishing to improve the sound reproduction of their television and take a small first step into the world of home cinema. The good quality of the experience is, however, subject to two major conditions: deactivating the surround virtualization mode, and not pushing the speaker too much to its limits in terms of sound power.
