€500 reduction on this powerful Dolby Atmos soundbar thanks to French Days

Are we planning to take advantage of the French Days to treat ourselves to a new 4K TV? So you might as well treat yourself to the end by accompanying your new acquisition with a brand new soundbar capable of bringing a real cinema experience into your living room. High-end soundbars are expensive, but those on sale still benefit from interesting reductions like this JBL Bar 1300 launched at 1,490 euros and now at 990 euros at Boulanger.

Above the famous JBL Bar 1000 is the JBL Bar 1300 whose technical sheet is impressive. Suffice to say that the American manufacturer has pulled out all the stops, in particular with this generous connection and support for all Dolby and DTS formats. The JBL Bar 1300 also incorporates certain technical aspects of its little sister such as the subwoofer and detachable surround speakers. During the French Days, its price is much more correct thanks to this reduction of 500 euros at Boulanger.

What to remember about the JBL Bar 1300

  • A 16-speaker home theater with 1,170 W RMS power
  • Impressive sound volume and excellent spatialization
  • Generous connectivity and all Dolby and DTS formats supported

Instead of the usual 1,490 euros, the JBL Bar 1300 is now available on sale for 990 euros at Boulanger.

JBL Bar 1300 at the best price?

A well-finished set with complete connectivity

The JBL Bar 1300 is a large soundbar which has the particularity of being equipped with two surround speakers fixed on its sides, these are detachable and can operate on battery with a battery life of 20 hours according to the American manufacturer. There is also a subwoofer with a large 26 cm transducer capable of going very low in frequency. If the manufacturing quality is there, the JBL Bar 1300 is far from being the most elegant soundbar on the market with its angular lines and a slightly industrial look.

It at least has the merit of being particularly generous in terms of connectivity with four HDMI ports. Three of them are inputs compatible with 4K 60 Hz signals while the output supports ARC and eARC feedback. With the latter, the JBL Bar 1300 is able to support the immersive audio formats Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. There is also a TosLink optical digital audio input, an RJ45 Ethernet jack and a USB-A port for playing MP3 files. For connectivity, this soundbar can connect to Wi-Fi 6 and is compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant as well as AirPlay 2 and Google Cast.

An impressive soundbar that leaves us wanting more

The JBL Bar 1300 is configured in 11.1.4 channels with a total of 16 speakers and is capable of deploying a power of 1,170 W RMS. Impressive figures which are felt in the maximum volume and the very immersive horizontal soundstage, particularly when the surround speakers are placed behind the viewer. However, a glaring lack of resolution darkens the picture. The reproduction of dialogue is at half mast and the vertical spatialization with Dolby Atmos is almost imperceptible.

Unfortunately, this is not the only fault of the JBL Bar 1300. For a soundbar launched at 1,500 euros, too few settings are offered on the JBL One application. The center channel is not adjustable, the Atmos channels and those of the surround speakers are adjustable to only three levels and the equalizer is limited to three bands to modify the bass, midrange and treble. As for night mode, it is simply absent. But the JBL Bar 1300 corrects the situation a little with an acoustic calibration which manages to improve spatialization.
