Towards the end of January 2024, Google introduced the Circle To Search feature. This tool based on AI allows, as its name suggests, to instantly start a search on a text, an image or elements contained on a web page after simply having surrounded him.

First available on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, Circle To Search made its debut on previous generation Pixels, but also on the Galaxy S24 as soon as they were launched. In March 2024, the functionality was deployed on a larger number of devices, such as the Galaxy S23 and S23 FE, or the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 to name a few.

And on April 22, 2024, this list grew further with the release of version 6.1 of One UI, the overlay based on Android 14 from Samsung. With this version, many models from the South Korean manufacturer can benefit from the additions offered by Galaxy AI, the brand’s artificial intelligence. Circle To Search is obviously part of the lotbut also Live Translate to instantly translate voice calls, generative editing to modify photos as you wish or even Interpreter to translate your conversations in real time.

AI translation gets faster with this Google App update

And on the occasion of the deployment of One UI 6.1, Google also plans to deploy a new version of its application preinstalled on all Android smartphones. This version makes translation via Circle To Search even faster than before.

In fact, users can now directly launch the translation of a page using a button with the Google Translate logo at the bottom right of the screen (right next to the search bar and the Voice Search and Google Lens buttons). By tapping on it, you will be able to choose which language you want to translate into. Note that the language of the original text is automatically detected by Google. After choosing the language of your choice, the displayed page will be translated in full. If you don’t see the Translate button appear yet, you will need to update your Google application via the Play Store.
