Samsung could launch a new type of smartphone as early as 2025

Samsung could be the first smartphone manufacturer to market a smartphone equipped with a technology that has been talked about for several years.

To better counter the Huawei Mate XT and its three screens, and building on its status as a pioneer in the foldable smartphone market, Samsung is preparing to market its first smartphone with roll-up screen from next year.

A rollable Samsung smartphone in 2025?

Samsung has been showing off its rollable screens for years. Since then, many smartphone prototypes equipped with this technology have been unveiled, from Motorola, OPPO, LG and TECNO. But none of them have yet been marketed to the general public. This could soon change if we are to believe the sources of the Korean media The Elec which reports that Samsung is working on a rollable phone with a 12.4-inch display.

An impressive diagonal that exceeds that of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold which is 8 inches, and even that of the Huawei Mate XT and its 10.2 inches. We also learn that the phone would offer a selfie camera under the screen. The product would be launched as early as the second half of 2025. If these deadlines are accurate, it is likely that Samsung will become the first company to market this type of product.

In recent years, Samsung has not particularly shone with its innovations, especially on its smartphones which are very similar from one year to the next, including in the high-end segment. We are thinking in particular of the Galaxy S24 Ultra or the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The company seems to be focusing on cost reduction and profitability. Samsung has even stopped producing dummy phones for resellers in order to make additional savings.

The marketing of a rollable smartphone would be an opportunity for the Korean giant to respond to fierce Chinese competition, and thus regain control in terms of innovation in the mobile market. By then, we will certainly have the opportunity to talk again about the marketing of rollable smartphones.
