Redefine the future of smart housing – Samsung Newsroom Belgium

On January 23, Samsung organized the Galaxy Tech Forums in San Jose, California. The debates have deepened Samsung’s innovations in artificial intelligence and the challenges they meet in four key areas: sustainable development, Health AI, Galaxy AI and Home AI. During the Home AI session, experts tackled Samsung’s vision on the future of smart habitats.
Samsung Electronics is revolutionizing intelligent houses thanks to Home AI, a new vision of intelligent habitat which includes the needs of the user and offers hyperpersonalized experiences.
Samsung Newsroom attended the last session of the Tech Forum, entitled “Understanding the home, understanding you: rethinking the role of the house in the AI era”, in order to examine the potential for transforming AI into Innovation in smart homes and the need for collaboration to keep Home AI promises.

The smart user interface, Home AI input door
An essential element of the Home AI experience, the user interface (IU) serves as a gateway between users and their mobile devices, their televisions, their household appliances, etc.

“The user interface occupies an essential place in the AI era,” said Patrick Chomet, mobile strategy advisor at Samsung Electronics. “With the advent of LLM multimodal AI, user interfaces (IU) have experienced a profound change, allowing people to accomplish tasks in a natural and simple way, in particular through gestures, voice or text. Now users should no longer understand the devices, it is the device that must understand the intention of the user. »»
He described the role of intelligent user interfaces, which not only allow more intuitive interactions, but also a better understanding of the user’s context and intention, than brands can use to optimize their own solutions.

“We have implemented an intuitive and concise user interface for the different features of smartthings,” said Jaeyeon Jung, executive vice-president and head of the SmartThings team at Samsung Electronics.
She presented examples of the latest smartthing functions to the public, in particular Quick Remote which allows users to control their TV using a connected galaxy smartphone, 3D Map View which allows users to manage their whole house and check energy consumption using smartphones and galaxy tablets, and Home Insight, A functionality that provides up -to -date reports on the house and personalized recommendations to users.
The role of platforms and standardization in smart homes
The stakeholders then exposed the efforts necessary to concretize the concept of Home AI. The Carolina Milanesi moderator, CEO and founder of Heart of Tech and president of Creative Strategies, launched the themes of integrated AI platforms and sectoral standards to guide the discussion.
“As our AI platform extends to applications, services and multiple devices, experience can be optimized depending on the user,” said Patrick Chomet. “The user context and richer information can be collected to provide relevant and truly personalized experiences. »»

“The SmartThings platform has existed for 10 years and if the concept of intelligent house is far from new, it is the technology of AI that gives life to the smart house,” added Jaeyeon Jung, stressing that a platform Coherent and connected AI allows users to benefit from absolute convenience, wherever they are. “For users, the transition from a philosophy centered on the device to a philosophy centered on the user and fueled by AI is reflected in a personalized and connected experience which gives them the impression of being at home, Wherever they are. »»
▲ Tobin Richardson de la Connectivity Standards Alliance
Tobin Richardson, Chairman and CEO of Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), has noted the importance of sectoral standards in the implementation of an ecosystem in which the devices can be connected in a simple, safe and harmonious way .
“Harmonious connectivity is the cornerstone of AI in the house, this technology based on the interoperability of devices to prosper. A common language like Matter allows devices to communicate easily to promote innovation in artificial intelligence, “he said, adding that the objective is not only to create a perfect connected experience, but also bring out a solid and reliable sector while making smart homes more accessible and safer.
“The members of the Alliance like Samsung do remarkable work in the field of AI, illustrating the way technology adapts to the needs of users to create a more smart and more personalized life experience,” -It added, reaffirming the company’s commitment to collaboration. “I am constantly fascinated by these advances that shape the future of connected houses. »»
Smart Home: more personalized and safer
In response to concerns about the difficulty of providing personalized experiences in houses shared by several people, Patrick Chomet explained that AI technology was able to understand the intentions and the context in order to offer an optimized experience for each user. He also indicated that Samsung planned to innovate in the field of multi-apparently connectivity, rather than that of individual products.

In addition, Jaeyeon Jung cited practical cases illustrating the way Samsung Health and SmartThings connect data and devices to provide hyperpersonalized health experiences. For example, Samsung Health and SmartTHings can optimize sleep environments by automatically adapting temperature and humidity according to the sleep habits of users and the environmental conditions in which they live. Also, when Galaxy devices detect that users have done sport, SmartThings will activate devices such as air conditioners and washing machines when they return home.

The discussion then turned to the essential role of safety and the protection of personal information in smart homes.
“Samsung grants security the highest priority in all areas,” continued Madame Jung. She explained that Knox Matrix protects the ecosystem of the smart house and Knox vault the material equipment. “By integrating the extended ecosystem of smartthings and AI with the proven safety of Samsung Knox, users benefit from personalized smart habitat experiences in complete safety. »»
“With more than eight in ten consumers declaring that security is important or very important for them, security and protection of privacy are key factors,” said Tobin Richardson, echoing the importance of confidence of users in connected devices. “” Matterour new generation solution for smart homes, has been designed for safety concerns and offers a level of confidence and transparency to which users can trust. »»
The Home AI session highlighted the contribution of AI to the creation of smarter, safer and more adaptive living spaces. Combining hyperpersonalized experiences and advanced security measures, Samsung’s innovations thus open the way to a new era of intelligent and connected houses that integrate into all aspects of daily life.
