Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: The Xbox, PS5 and PS5 Pro versions Compared by Digital Foundry | Xbox

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is one of the first big outings of the year 2025 and already looks like a frank success. This new episode seems very ambitious, especially in terms of its technique, and Digital Foundry gives us its analysis of the Xbox Series X | S, PS5 and PS5 Pro versions today.
An ambitious game visually
Unlike the first episode released on the previous generation of consoles, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is an Xbox Series X | S, PS5 and PC exclusive, which allowed the studio to review the visual ambitions of the upward title.
Developed under the Cry Engine engine, the game shines on many aspects such as vegetation, light or the vast expanses and other forests available to players. Armors and different materials are also acclaimed by Digital Foundry.
The expert also highlights several adverse effects such as popping or artifacts, but he also specifies that the analysis is carried out on a test version which does not understand the game day one of the game, which could thus correct these few glitches .
Two graphic modes on Xbox Series X and PS5
Regarding the comparison between the different consoles, we first notice that the Xbox Series X and PS5 versions offer two different graphic modes.
The first is a mode Loyalty which runs at 30 FPS, with an image resolution in 1440p, then scale in 4K via the AMD FSR. The second is a mode Performance which aims for 60 FPS, with a native resolution of 1080p upper in 1440p via the FSR.
Visually, there is a density of the vegetation as well as a larger shadow display distance with the mode Loyaltyand the ambient occlusion as well as the geometry of objects are also of better quality.
The PS5 PRO offers a single graphic mode at 60 FPS with a native resolution of 1296p upscale in 4K via the PSSR, the Sony owner scaling solution. It has the graphic advantages of the mode Loyalty PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, and the PSSR offers a generally clear image than the AMD FSR.
A more capricious framerate on Xbox
Regarding the framerate, the PS5 and PS5 PRO offer a stable 60 fps in the mode Performance. The Xbox Series X also reaches its target most of the time, but Digital Foundry underlines fairly marked declines in the intro of the game for the Microsoft console, while its rivals display a stable 60 fps.
The three machines, on the other hand, suffer from slowdowns in a phase of “dreams” at the start of the adventure, and we hope that these different problems can be corrected with the Day One patch.
Note that if you have a 120 Hz TV compatible with VRR, the framerate is completely unlocked, which makes it possible to reach image frequencies greater than 60 FPS on Xbox Series X, PS5 and PS5 Pro.
This shows in particular that the PS5 offers a framerate slightly higher than the PS5 PRO and the Xbox Series X. If it is quite surprising at first glance, Digital Foundry recalls that the PS5 PRO offers a superior image quality, whether in Graphic rendering or image resolution level, with a more greedy PSSR than the FSR.
The mode Loyalty Offer for its part a stable 30 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X, even if falls around the 20 FPS are highlighted on the Microsoft console, a sign of less good optimization. Overall, the 30 FPS mode also negatively impacts the response of the commands, which is not ideal in an already heavy game.
1080p et 30 FPS sur Xbox Series S
As often, the Xbox Series S offers a single graphic mode at 30 FPS with a native image resolution in 1080p, without any scaling solution. The result is an image visibly more vague and Digital Foundry judges this choice “disappointing” compared to the rendering of other machines, while the quality of shadows and textures is also reduced on the small console of Microsoft.
The 30 FPS framerate is deemed stable most of the time, but dense areas impact the Xbox Series S version in the same way as Xbox Series X with falls around 20 FPS.
You will find below the complete analysis of Digital Fundry. Let us recall again that this analysis does not take into account the Patch Day One of the game, which could come to correct certain seeds, and in particular the more capricious framerate on the Xbox consoles.
