Why the PS5 Pro Might Cost You More Than You Think

Sold without a disc player but with 2TB of storage space, the Playstation 5 Pro sees its price increase significantly compared to the PS5.

At 799.99 euros, the Playstation 5 Pro is one of the most expensive consoles ever sold. Scheduled for November 7, the new version of the PS5 already promises to be a considerable leap forward in terms of power, but to afford it, you’re going to have to save (a lot).

A console without any disc player

But Sony has however neglected to specify that its supercharged console does not have a disc player. 100% digital, the PS5 Pro will however be able to count on 2TB of storage space – which is not so bad, when you consider the weight of some big games to come, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

If you absolutely want a disc player, you will have to go to the online store, Playstation Direct, which sells a disc player for “PS5 digital edition consoles”. Released at the same time as the PS5 Slim in 2023, this accessory is sold for… 119.99 euros. But it is announced as compatible with the PS5 Pro.

In total, the bill is steep: it will be 919.98 euros to be precise.

If you want to treat yourself to this console that promises to make no concessions in terms of graphics or fluidity, you’ve come to the right place. But the entry costs could quickly climb if you’re a fan of physical games.
